The Story:
After years of traveling around with her mother, a closeted 11-year-old girl returns to Belgium and is confronted with an unexpected friendship. Does she dare to open her heart?
Lighting Style:
The visual approach was designed to highlight the performances of the two young actresses. Since the story centers on their relationship, we aimed for a sense of intimacy while still allowing room for improvisation. To achieve this, we focused the camera closely on them and minimized the presence of the parents on screen.
We wanted a cinematic mood that wouldn’t interfere with their natural dynamic, so the lighting and framing were carefully planned to be flexible and unobtrusive. This allowed me to adapt to their performances in the moment, supporting their spontaneity without breaking the visual coherence of the film.
