Lighting Style:

For this film, we chose a lighting style that complements the emotional journey of the characters and supports the symbolic use of color in costume and setting. Inspired by natural light and emotionally charged color contrasts, we adopted a palette rooted in soft yellows, blues, and subtle violets, creating a warm yet melancholic atmosphere.

Street exteriors are lit with gentle blue and green hues, reinforcing Storm’s inner world (truth, healing) and Olivia’s vitality (growth, life). The presence of soft yellow sunlight adds warmth and subtle optimism to these scenes.

At night, we use a blend of muted violet and soft orange, evoking themes of grief, transition, and emotional openness. These tones gently highlight moments of intimacy and emotional breakthrough.

Interior lighting is enriched by organic elements; plant-filled spaces, warm browns, and yellow ambient lighting; reinforcing ideas of inner growth and emotional grounding.

By using complementary color schemes (such as red/green and blue/orange), we created visual tension that mirrors the film’s emotional contrasts: conflict versus connection, grief versus healing, isolation versus openness.

This lighting approach doesn’t just support the narrative visually, it subtly enhances the emotional undercurrents that drive the characters forward.
